OUR
VISION: (2003-2008)
1.
Activities
New Church facilities -
A not for profit café for use by the local community.
Such a ministry could be the source of a great many leads into
community outreach.
A Citizen’s Advice service. There is a great deal of expertise
within the church; perhaps we could provide a service of this
nature.
New kitchens facilities.
Facility to sell Christian books and fair-trade products.
A comfortable and welcoming reception area.
Links
with community - we aim to develop our links with and profile
in the local community. We will seek to work constructively
in partnership with the local council, police and MPs. We would
like to establish a team of volunteers to help with odd jobs
in the local community. Recognising that Christmas is a vital
time of year for the church we aim to develop our Christmas
programme to include high profile community outreach. We particularly
aim to work in and with the local schools.
2. Finance & Resources
Pay off outstanding loans - we aim to clear the
remaining debt on the church building early in this five year
period.
People
- a number of possible appointments would be very beneficial
to the church. These could take responsibility for developing
work and organising volunteer help in the following areas of
ministry:
Children’s/Youth
work
Maintenance of the Church premises
Administration
Use of Information Technology
Community outreach
Counselling
Work among the elderly
We aim to appoint paid or unpaid people to work in at least
some of these areas.
Information
Technology - information technology is now widely used by churches.
We aim to develop the use of IT in order to establish a modern
and efficient environment. The creative use of IT offers many
opportunities for ministry, particularly among children and
young people – we will seek to begin exploiting these.
3. Buildings & Fabric
The church hall - it is clear that the hall is
in need of some refurbishment. We aim to refurbish it such that
it will be both presentable and practical for the various organisations
that regularly use it.
A
building project - plans are already in existence for the development
of the site such as to join the two buildings. New facilities
should be functional for groups of all ages and must be a resource
for the local community.
